Saving Recorded Snapshots

The Viewer offers multiple ways to save recorded snapshots. Most of the time, you will not have a need to save or print a recorded snapshot, except in special situations where keeping a record of a particular snapshot(s) is required (disciplinary actions, for example).

Saving a Series of Snapshots

The Viewer provides the option of saving a series of snapshots. For example, you may want to save 10 or 20 snapshots in a row. While you could save these one at a time, that would be a tedious process. If you want to save them as a series, all you need to tell the Viewer is where to start and stop saving snapshots.

Notice at the bottom of the snapshot window there is a status line, which shows you the frame number of the current snapshot. For example, Snapshot 3/87 means there are 87 snapshots and you are currently looking at snapshot number 3.

To save the series:

  1. Find the first snapshot you want to save and write down the number of the snapshot

  2. Page Down until you find the last snapshot you want to save. Write down the number of this snapshot

  3. Click on the File command or on the Save Tagged button. (If you clicked on File, also click on Save As) A dialog box opens. You have the choice of selecting to save the snapshots either as images or as video

    1. Save as an Image  The Viewer will save the snapshot as a JPEG (image) file with the file extension of .JPG. If you wish, you can change this to a Bitmap (image) file, but the Bitmap file size will be considerably larger. The Viewer will save the snapshot to a folder and name the file for you, both of which you may change if desired

    2. Save as a Video  If selected, the Viewer will save the snapshot as a video file with the file extension of .AVI

  1. Under Snapshots to Save…, click on Selected Range

  2. Below Selected Range, type in the number of the first snapshot to save (in this example, this would be the number 3. This number should be typed in the box to the right of the upper Snapshot Number

  3. Type in the number of the last snapshot to save (in this example, this would be the number 87). This number should be typed in the box to the right of the lower Snapshot Number

  4. Make sure to choose a file name and file folder to save these snapshots

  5. Click on the Save button

Note: The Viewer will use the base name that you provide and append the frame number after it. For example, if you choose “image.jpg” and have tagged frames 1, 7, and 8, the Viewer will create the files "image1.jpg,” “image7.jpg,” and “image8.jpg.”
