When you click the Advanced button on the Chat/IM Settings panel, the Chat Parameters box opens. Change these parameters only if you are sure you will not compromise the Client recording. Contact SpectorSoft Technical Support for help.
IRC Ports, MSN Ports, etc.
The Client monitors specific communications ports for different types of
Chat/IM protocol. The Client can "listen" for a type of chat
at multiple ports, with each port separated by a space.
To add a port to be monitored:
Type a space and the port number in the appropriate protocol (IRC, MSN, etc.) field.
To remove a port from monitoring:
Select and delete the port number from the field.
If you change a port, the change will not take effect until the user restarts the Chat/IM client application. Click each protocol in the table below for a brief explanation.
IRC Capture, MSN Capture...
A "protocol" is an agreed on method of communication used by
Chat and IM services. To capture a conversation, the Client uses the optimal
method for interpreting the protocol: High-level, Low-level, or Auto.
The Client is set to record at the level indicated in each field:
Low-level - The Client captures basic chat and IM conversations (text only) at "low level" when a "high level" capture is not possible. Low-level capture works well for most conversations, because it does not rely on a particular Chat/IM client application version. The Client uses low-level capture for AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) and for third-party applications that interface with major providers (AOL, Yahoo, MSN), such as Trillian.
High-level - The Client is able to capture some Chat/IM conversations directly from the application window at "high level," resulting in a recording with greater detail (includes the Yahoo Emoticons and the HTML font being used). High-level recording will capture conversations from encrypted communication, whereas low-level recording will not. High-level capture is used as a backup to the low-level method, because it relies on a specific version of an application, which may change.
Auto - The Client will decide whether to use low-level or high-level recording each time a Chat/IM event begins. Generally, the Client will use low-level method recording unless (a) the communications protocol is encrypted or (b) the protocol is not known to the Client.
Default parameters are:

The following protocols are recorded by default. Clear a checkmark if you don't need to capture one of these types of conversations. This is a convenient way to turn off recording of an acceptable form of chat/IM, such as in-house MSN Exchange.
Capture Web IMs - Instant messaging that occurs at a web site, such as MSN Messenger accessed from MSN.com
Capture OSCAR80 - OSCAR is a messaging protocol used by AOL
Capture MSN Exchange - MSN Messenger operating on an exchange server
