Email Not Recorded

The Client Recorder

The Client Recorder captures and records almost all email.  When email is sent or received, the Client creates a hidden duplicate of the email (and its attachments, if so configured) to store for later review. It also keeps a copy of deleted email.

SpectorSoft is constantly updating the Client Recorder as new email technologies emerge. For the latest information, see our Knowledge Base.

What Is Recorded

Each message sent or received is recorded as an event.

Email Activity recording reveals:

  • Offensive email is being sent / received

  • Personal email occurring on company time

  • Content and destination of mail coming and going during critical periods, such as a merger, take-over, or change in stock valuation

  • Who is communicating with competitors or the press

Types of Email Recorded

The following email types are recorded:

AOL, Webmail, IMAP

The Client records AOL, Webmail, and incoming IMAP email when the message is opened for reading by the user. The Client does NOT record attachments to AOL or Webmail messages.

Email Not Recorded

Several types of email are not currently recorded by the Client Recorder. However, you can still record user activity by enabling keystroke recording and screen snapshots. The following are known email interfaces NOT supported by the Client:

If email is NOT recorded:

You can still review the user's activity from Keystrokes Typed in the email application or from the periodic Screen Snapshots.
