Spector CNE
Administrator's Guide
You can quickly change settings on all computers in a group. For example, you can change the Keyword Alert settings on all computers in a domain.
To change settings for a group:
In the left pane, click Configure Computers.
Below the right pane, click Show Groups Only.

Right-click on the group where
you want to change settings and select Client
Settings.
When working with a single computer, the Control Center communicates
directly with the Client service on the computer and displays a single
Settings page. When Group Management
is enabled and Show Groups Only
is selected, the Control Center displays the Settings panels in Wizard
format, as in the Deployment Utility.
Specify the Configuration file
you want to use for these settings. The default file is:
C:\Program Files\SpectorSoft\SpectorCNE\Settings.ini
Click Browse to locate a .ini file in another location.
Click Start.
The Email
configuration panel appears. Make changes as desired to each Deployment
Utility panel.

When you click Finish on the last panel, a message appears: "Updating Spector configuration on X of Y SPECTOR computers. Click OK.
The Control Center saves the configuration to the selected file and copies the file to all Client computers in the group (domain). The Client checks for a new settings file at ten-minute intervals. If any computer in the selected group (domain) is not on the network (shut down, network problems, etc.), the Control Center maintains those computers and the configuration file to copy in a DelaySettings.xml file. The Control Center checks this file at the same interval specified by the Update Interval under the Control Center Properties: Network tab. As the configuration file is copied to each computer, the computer name is removed from the DelaySettings.xml file.
Note: Background computer updating must be enabled for Client Settings to update properly. To make sure this feature is enabled, see Setting up Group Management.
