Including/Excluding Ports

Configure Computers

Network Activity recording captures connections made at particular network and Internet ports. To add a new port specifications to Network Activity settings, simply click Add in the Port area of the Network Activity Settings panel.

Asterisks (*) are wildcards that permit any IP or port number. For example, if you only want to capture web traffic at port 80, you would specify *.*.*.*:80. If you did not want your local network to be recorded, you could exclude all ports at your local network address range; for example: 192.168.*.*:*.

To specify a port:

  1. If you know the IP address range you want to include or exclude, enter the value in the four four IP address fields. For the local computer shown in the illustration above, the address is 192.168.0.90.*

  2. If you know the Port you want to include or exclude, enter the port number in the last entry field. For example, to specify email at the standard SMTP port, enter:
    *.*.*.*:25.
