Quiet vs. Interactive Installation

The Client installation can be hidden or visible to the user. The "quiet" mode of installation removes all indicators that the Client Recorder is being installed. Selected by default, this option is available when you Build the Client Install file, at the end of the Deployment Utility wizard. If you clear the option to "Install in Quiet or Silent Mode," the user will see the installation and will be required to interact with the dialog boxes that you choose.

Deselect the Quiet Mode Option for an Interactive Installation

If you need to install manually at one or more Client computers, you may want to build a visible, interactive Client Install file so that you know what is happening during the installation.

Minimal Interactive Installation

As soon as you clear Install in Quiet or Silent Mode, you will have an interactive Client installation. Even if you clear all other dialog box options, the following boxes will be displayed at the Client during the installation:

  1. Password prompt, if a password has been configured for Client Security. If there is a password, it is required for an interactive installation of the Client, ANY uninstall of the Client (at the Client or at the Control Center), and to open the Viewer (if one is installed with the Client).

  2. Client Installation progress bar. Allows you to see when the installation is complete.

  3. Readme / Installation notes. Use the Close window button on this document to proceed with the installation.

  4. Restart prompt asks the user if he/she would like to restart the computer now to complete the installation. The user chooses Yes or No and then Finish. The Client is fully installed after the computer restarts.

  5. Remove Spector Client install file prompt. Click Yes to close the box and delete the setup file or No to close the box without deleting anything.

Interactive Installation Choices

The Build Installation File panel of the Deployment Utility allows you to select additional dialog boxes for the install sequence by responding to these questions.
