Verify Remote Registry Service

Enable Remote Registry Service

The Windows Remote Registry service is required on the Client so that the Control Center can display the computer's status in Manage Computers. If a computer is displayed as Not Detected in the Manage Computers view, and you are sure it is on and connected to the network, most likely Remote Registry service capabilities are not enabled for that computer, or you do not have Administrator privileges to access it.

A Client computer MUST have Remote Registry service enabled before you can install the Client and fully manage it from the Control Center. Use the Control Center's Client Computer Diagnostics to check the Registry service, and enable the service where possible if it is not running.

Client computers running on Windows 98, ME, and XP Home will NOT have the Remote Registry service. Plan to install these Clients manually and manage them in non-integrated mode.

Verify Remote Registry Service

To verify Remote Registry Services

  4. Click on the Registry Check button.
If the service is enabled, a message appears: "The Windows System Registry is accessible on the specified computer <name>." Click OK.

Enable Remote Registry Service

By default, Windows NT, 2000, and XP Pro systems are configured with the Remote Registry service enabled. If the service is disabled, it MUST be enabled before you can use the Control Center to install and manage the Client. Window
