The Viewer

A standalone Viewer can be installed on the Client computer to review the Client's recorded events at the local computer. Data files on the Client comptuer are in a proprietary compressed and encrypted format; the local user would not be able to view them without a Viewer. The Viewer is similar to the Dashboard's User Explorer interface, but for one computer/user only.

Installing the Viewer on Clients

The Deployment Utility and Client Settings allow installation of a standalone Viewer from the Security configuration panel. If enabled, the Viewer is installed when the Client is installed or re-configured. The Viewer requires the same system specifications and Administrator privileges as the Client Recorder with an additional 1 MB of disk space.

For security, do not install a standalone Viewer unless the Client computer will not be sending recording data to the Data Vault (where it is processed for viewing in the Dashboard). If you must install a Viewer, be sure to configure an unusual key combination and password to access it.

Opening the Viewer at a Client

To open the Viewer:

  1. Enter the key combination you defined for the Viewer on the Deployment or Client Settings Security panel. If a password has been configured, the Password entry box appears.

  2. Type the password to open the viewer.

  3. Use viewer functions to view Snapshots, start and stop recording, and uninstall.

Removing the Viewer from a Client

You can remove the Viewer from the Control Center by re-configuring the Client, or you can remove the Viewer at the Client computer.
