Spector CNE
Administrator's Guide
|
The Spector Viewer allows you to view, print, and report on the data recorded from Client computers. It opens the stored data files from the Data Vault or from an individual Client computer. The Viewer is installed with Control Center when you install Server Components so that you can access it from the Monitor Users or Monitor Computers view. The Viewer can also be installed as a standalone application.
From the Control Center's Monitor Users view, the Viewer displays recordings for a single user. If you are using the Control Center's Monitor Computers view, the Viewer displays recordings for a single computer.
To open the viewer from the Control Center:
Open the Control Center.
Select Monitor Users (or
Monitor Computers).

Double-click on a user (or computer) in the right pane.
The Viewer
opens, displaying events for the user (or computer) from the Data Vault.

By default, the Viewer loads the last 15 days of recorded events for the user or computer. To learn how you can load a different sets of data or change the defaults, see Loading Events.
It is possible to install the Viewer separately from the Server Components. With a network connection and appropriate permission, you can review Client recordings from the Data Vault or from a Client without using the Control Center. See Installing a Standalone Viewer
To open a standalone Viewer:
From
the computer where the Viewer was installed
Click the Windows Start button,
select Spector CNE and Spector
CNE Viewer. The Viewer opens. Use using
File and Open
Directory to navigate to a Data Vault folder.
See Loading Events in Viewer.
At
a Client Computer where a Viewer is installed
Enter the Hotkey combination you defined for the Viewer. The password
prompt appears. Enter the Client security password. The
Viewer opens, displaying recorded events directly from the Client.
|
Only the most recent recorded events in a Client's local data file folder can be reviewed with the Viewer, since the data is deleted after being received by the Data Vault. Use a Viewer on the Client only when it is necessary to see what is being recorded and what is configured locally on the computer. |
