Configure Computers
Configure the Security options from:
Client Deployment Utility - Pre-configure the security options in the Client installation file
Control Center >Configure Computer View > Client Settings - Select security options to enable or disable
Password - Control access to Client. Enter the password to use to access the Spector Client installation when it is running on the monitored computer. If you leave this field blank, no password will be required (not recommended). If a password is configured, it will be required in order to:
Remove a Client installation
Re-install a Client
Open the Viewer locally on a computer if the Viewer is included as part of the Client installation
Confirm Password - Type the password again.
Hotkey - The key combination required to access the Client. The default hotkey combination is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S. Most Clients will NOT have the Viewer installed and the hotkeys do nothing. Click Change to set a new hotkey combination Show me ...
Set Spector Client to Stealth Mode - Check to hide all indications Client is running. Clear to make the Spector Client visible to the user. The Client is configured for Stealth Mode by default. In Visible (non-stealth) Mode, the Client's desktop will display a small red square in the Windows system tray when it is recording. Stealth Mode removes all indicators that the Client is running on the computer:
Client does not appear in the Windows system tray
Client does not appear in the Windows task list
Client does not appear in the Windows Startup folder
Client cannot be uninstalled from nor does it appear in Add/Remove Programs
Client does not install any icons or entries in the Start>Programs menu
Include Viewer with Spector Client Installation - Check to install a standalone Viewer at the Client computer (not recommended). Use the hot keys with the password to access the stand-alone Viewer if installed on the Client and running in Stealth Mode. This prevents other users who do NOT know the Hotkey from accessing the Viewer. (If they do know the Hotkey, they would need to know the Password as well.)
If the Client installation is remotely managed by the Spector CNE Control Center and the user of the Control Center has administrator permissions for the computer, then the Control Center will automatically retrieve the password configured for the Client and uses it, allowing for remote installation and un-installation without the need to know the password. If the Control Center is unable to read the password from the registry of the Client, then the Control Center user will be prompted for the Client password.
|
Note Though most Client installations that are remotely managed will NOT need to have their passwords remembered, we suggest using the same password for all Client installations. Passwords are case-sensitive. |
