Review recorded Email Activity from the Email Activity tab.
The top pane displays each email event. Sort the events using the column categories. Click on the column header to sort in ascending or descending order. By default, they are sorted in descending order by the Date Recorded column. For example, if you want to view all email by Type, click on the Type column header. If you want to see all email sent from the Client computer, click on the In/Out column header.
Flag
- A Flag icon in this column indicates that Spector CNE has added an additional
message about the recording of the email. After opening the e-mail, this
message is shown directly beneath the Subject line in a Status
field. One of the following messages will be displayed:
ERROR: Unable to read email body
ERROR: Unable to read email attachment(s)
INFO: Attachment capture turned off
INFO: Attachment(s)
exceeded size limit - not recorded
INFO: Email data was encrypted
INFO: Email was recorded before it was sent
Attachment - If any file attachments were recorded with the email, a paper clip icon will appear in this column. The file attachment can be accessed when the email is opened.
In/Out
- Indicates whether the email was received or sent from the Client.
In indicates that the email was received or read by the user.
Out indicates that the email was composed or sent by the user.
Type - Indicates the type of recorded email: Exchange, SMTP, POP, AOL, IMAP, MAPI, or WEBMAIL
Sender
- The From address on the
recorded email.
If the email is being sent, this will usually be the email address
of the computer's user.
If the email is being received, this will usually show the email address
of who sent the email to the computer's user.
Recipient
- The To address on the
recorded email.
If the email is received, this will usually be the email address of
the computer's user.
If the email is sent, this will show the To email address of the
computer's user.
Subject - Text in the "subject" line of the email.
Date Recorded - This is the date and time that the Client recorded the email and NOT the date and time the email was sent or received.
Click an Email event in the top pane to view its contents in the bottom pane.
Double-click an email in the top Events pane to view it in a popup window. The Email display window provides these options:
Print - Print the email contents.
Save As - Save the email as an HTML, Text, or EML file.
Previous - View the previous email in the Events list.
Next - View the next email in the Events list.
If there is a status flag, the message appears in the Status field.
If there is a file attachment, access it from the Attach field. If you are not capturing attachments, the Attach field does not appear.

Search Email Activity for - Enter search terms and click Go. The search works like a filter, displaying only the data that matches your entered search terms. See Searching Events for more information on basic and advanced searching.
Refresh - Updates the Viewer with the latest Client data files. If data files are added to the data file folder or data files are updated in the data file folder, the Viewer will NOT display these events unless the data files are re-loaded from the data file folder.
Delete - Select an Event (use Ctrl and Shift to select multiple events) from the top pane then click the Delete button. This removes the event(s) from the Data Vault. Once an event is deleted it no longer exists and it cannot be recovered.
File Menu:
Print - This option will print the contents of a selected email.
Print List - This option will print the entire email list as displayed in the Events pane with Show Preview off. - the email contents will not be printed.

Note You can not print the contents of multiple emails with a single print command. |
View Menu:
Show Preview On - By default the Show Preview is on. Selecting an email in the Events pane displays the contents in the Preview. This allows you to view the contents of the selected e-mail without opening it.
Show Preview Off - Turning off the Show Preview allows you to view more recorded email in the Events pane, but will require each event to be opened to view its contents. To enable Show Preview, from the View menu, select Show Preview.
