The Viewer loads ALL recorded events from ALL data files. A very large number of recorded events (i.e., tens of thousands) could take a significant amount of time to load depending on access time to the hard drive and the speed/memory of the computer on which the Viewer is installed. In general, loading less than 10 days of activity from the typical computer should load in seconds. If the Viewer is loading a longer timeframe of recorded events, it may take considerably longer. You may want to consider reducing the number of data files to load. Excluding data files using a date range as each event has a time stamp.
Data recorded in the Monitor Users View will not be available after switching to the Monitor Computers view and vice versa.
Monitor Users - Data stored together under user's Windows log on name.
Monitor Computer - Data stored together under Client computer name.
If the Viewer is running from within the Control Center using the Monitor Computers view, the Windows folder path provided to the Viewer will be the fully qualified network path to the folder associated with the selected computer name in which the Data Vault stored the events. It is important you have proper administrator privileges to access the fully qualified network path.
Example
If the Control Center is configured to view events from the Data Vault and the Data Vault is configured to store the events in a folder called c:\Clientdata then the fully qualified network path used by the Viewer to access those events would be \\datavaultcomputer\C$\Clientdata\eventcomputer\.
Datavaultcomputer - Name of the computer on which the Data Vault is configured.
Eventcomputer - Name of the computer recorded by the Client. It is a subfolder to the base folder the in which the Data Vault stores recorded events.
|
Note The Data Vault computer must have File Sharing available for the Windows user account from which you are running the Viewer. The reason is the Data Vault folder will be accessed using the administrative share C$. The administrative share must be available even if you are running the Control Center and Viewer from the same computer on which the Data Vault resides. |
The Viewer can load and view archived events from folders that do not reside on the Data Vault computer. See Viewing Events from an Archive.
Create bookmark favorites for quick access to a network data location. If you use this feature, you will not have to manually scroll to the network location every time you load recordings from an archive or multiple data vaults.
