Server
You can check the status of and control Primary Server settings from the Control Center Properties. Right-click the Control Center icon in the left pane, select Properties, and then click on the Primary Server tab.
One of the Primary Server's functions is to provide software updates. The Properties box allows you to specify how you would like the Primary Server to make its connection to SpectorSoft.

Communication with the SpectorSoft Update Server begins when you click Get Updates from the Primary Server Administration Window. The Primary Server computer connects to the Internet IP Address defined by the domain "u2a1376gf-43ty-245c.com." Access to this domain address must not be blocked by a network firewall.
There are three possible ways to make this connection.
To receive updates, select one:
Direct Connection - Use IP port 16771 to connect to the SpectorSoft server for updates.
Proxy Connection - Access the Internet via a network web proxy server (HTML). You must specify the address and port for communication.
Proxy Address - Enter the Proxy server IP address or name.
Proxy IP Port - Enter the Port use to communicate with the proxy server.
HTTP Connection - Connect to SpectorSoft via HTTP port 80. This is the default configuration. If your network has a proxy server or a firewall that filters non-standard HTTP traffic, you may need to configure one of the other options provided
This area of the Primary Server panel shows where the service is installed, whether or not it is running, and allows you to view a log of Primary Server activity.

To verify Primary Server location and port:
Computer Name - Displays the network computer the Primary Server is installed on.
Move - Remove the Primary Server software component from the current computer and move it to another server on your network.
Listen IP Port - This setting defaults to 16770. This should NOT be changed unless you have a specific network conflict with this IP port. If this setting is changed, all configuration settings for the Primary Server configuration within the Client must also be changed to match this IP Port.

|
If you change the Listen IP Port from 16770 to something else, you MUST create a new Client Install file, specifying the new port on the Server Communication panel of the Deployment Utility. Then, use the new Client Install file to redeploy the Client to all computers. |
Start Svr - Available when the service is stopped. Starts the Primary Server service. The service MUST be started for Clients to operate correctly.
Stop Svr - Available when the service is running. Stops the Primary Server service.
View SVR Log - View or save a text file log of Primary Server activity (splicensemanager.log) to use for troubleshooting purposes.
Show Server Tray Icon - Mark this checkbox to view the Primary Server icon in the system tray.
The currently installed version of the Primary Server is displayed at the bottom of the Primary Server Properties panel.
