Events Not Scanned

The Spector Client can search for matches to keywords in all recorded events. When the Client detects a match, it (a) records an "alert" event, (b) sends email notification to the email address you specify, and (c) increases the frequency of screen snapshots taken to get as much information as possible.

If you do not change the default Alert Settings, no keywords are defined and no alerts are recorded. You need to provide the "red flag" word or words to the Client. The Client will then scan for your keywords in:  

Specify the keywords and change in the Keyword Alert Settings panel.  

Use Keyword Alerts to find out immediately:

  • If an important document or project name is being discussed in email or chat sessions.

  • If inappropriate web sites are being accessed. For example, the keyword "World of Warcraft" would be detected on a web site the user visited, in an email message the user received, AND in keystrokes typed as the user was conducting a search.

What Is Recorded

Each time a keyword is detected, an "event" is recorded, and you will be able to view data about the event. A Keyword Alert event captures:

If you request, the Client sends email notification to an email address you specify, so you can find out right away when and where a policy infraction occurred.

A Keyword Alert email notification leaves no trace in the Client computer's "Sent" email folder. The Client software includes its own mail capability to send the alert. It does not use the local default email application.
