Configure Computers

By default, the Client is set to install without a Viewer and run in Stealth Mode so it will not be detected. This ensures the greatest amount of security. You can change the Client Security options in the Security panel of the  of the Deployment Utility wizard before installation, or from Client Settings panel after installation.

Access

For extra security, you can require an additional password to install and uninstall the Client. In addition, if you are including a Viewer with the Client, you can configure access control through hotkeys and the password.

Note: We suggest using the same password for all Client installations. Passwords are case-sensitive.

Security Settings in the Deployment Utility include the Viewer Installation Option

Viewer Hotkeys

Most Clients will NOT have the Viewer installed, and the hotkeys configured on this Security panel do nothing. If you have installed a Viewer, however, be sure to set up hotkeys to access the Viewer, preferably WITH a password.

To set security on a Viewer:

  1. Make sure Set Spector Client to Stealth Mode is selected. The Viewer is easily accessed without this setting.

  2. Define a password in Client Security Settings. This password will be required AFTER you enter the hotkey combination to open the Viewer.

  3. Define a hot-key combination that will open the standalone Viewer. You will enter the key combination at the Client computer (by default Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S) and then enter the password to open the Viewer. To change the hotkey combination, click the Change button, select a new key combination, and click OK.
